100 years of wine

The Mondonico Estate is located in the eastern part of Oltrepó Pavese, one of the oldest wine regions of northern Italy, with testimonies coming from the Roman era and a tradition that has been reinforced since the beginning of the early nineteenth century.

Oltrepò Pavese: “A province shaped like a bunch of grapes”
This is how Gianni Brera, journalist and writer enamoured with Oltrepò Pavese and its wines, defined this triangular shaped land, very different on its inland with plains, hills and mountains, making up a world of its own, a “little ancient world” and modern one all together.

Oltrepò Pavese once called Old Piedmont is the largest southern territory area of the province of Pavia which extends up to the mountains forming a wedge between the provinces of Alessandria and Piacenza.

The Mondonico Estate is 200 metres above sea level and covers over 100 hectares, all cultivated with vineyards in a single body all around the winery located at the top of the hill.
The vineyards are cultivated with the traditional local varieties Bonarda, Barbera, Pinot Nero, Pinot Grigio for the production of Doc Oltrepò wines.
